anyone know how to get rid of it?
if it cant be gotten rid of then does anyone know how to change the hotkeys so version 6.1 comes up instead of version 5?

try going to >start >control panel >add/remove >add/remove windows components.

other than that try contacting your isp tech support they may be of better service.

yeah i had to do this to..im pretty sure you wont find it in the add/remove section.

I now this is going to sound lame, but do a search. I used some code in command prompt and it did it easy. But I dont have the link anymore. Sorry. But I know its out there....somewhere.

Go Start > Run and put in..
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Uninstalling Messenger on computers that have Service Pack 1 installed

Open Control Panel from the Start menu.
Choose Add or Remove Programs.
Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
Click to remove the checkmark next to "Windows Messenger".
Click the Next button.
Click the Finish button.
Reboot
