Wondering if anyone else has eperienced the same thing with drag racing on the gas (bracket racing).

While running N/A, I always finished in the top 10 each wednesday (out of 150-200 imports). I took 2 first place and 3 second place trophies this summer, all n/a.

Once I got the juice on, my times have been jumping around wildly, and I always lost before the third round. I could run a 13.45, dial in @ 13.4, then run a 13.8...and then the next run would be a 13.49.....and the next a 13.9....

I know the inconsistency and lack of traction of the street tires have a lot to do with it (As well as no bottle heater), but at 100F ambient temperatures you would figure that both bottle pressure and traction would remain fairly constant.

Oh, and there were those days when no matter what I did, I couldn't dip below 13.8 :( - regardless of bottle pressure or traction. And then there were the days until I couldn't break into the 13s until the 4th or 5th run...

My last day with the nitrous my 3 runs were 13.9 @ 105, 14.1 @ 106.1, and 13.8 @ 105.....and then I got mad at the thing and I sold the kit :D

I wonder if different sources for N2O have slightly different mixture ratios for the gas...

I see James running consistent 14.6's and .5s, but his ATX gives him an advantage

Jeff? how were your days at the track?

OMG Dude... I was wayyyyy too consistent...

It became annoying.... I only went to the track twice with my "big shot" and nitto drag rads, but here were my times.... I've never been in the 14's though! :D

First time: (44/36)

13.92 @ 102
13.84 @ 102
13.79 @ 102

I was getting better each run, but then i had to leave :(

Second time (and last time ever): (45/36)

13.91 @ 102
13.90 @ 102
13.84 @ 102
13.90 @ 102
13.91 @ 102

Those times are what caused me to quit drag racing.... I had done so much work since my first trip with the 80 shot... I could've sworn that I could've hit low 13's that night... but nope.. so that's why I quit. Anyways, I'm not sure why you're so inconsistent... I would blame it on your tires. but i dunno for sure.

The funny thing was running bone stock again....I was starting to get bored waiting for the 15 sec to pass....and then there was the horror of my first 16 sec pass ever - stock with a 220lb passenger - 16.2 @ 87 mph....I cringed, and vowed to buy another nitrous kit...:D

good info on the drag radials though - seems like they deliver consistently.

Yeah, I'm REAL consistant. I had 8 runs in last friday and stay within .1 of each run... not even a full tenth either. But then again... ATXs rock like that:)

Mine takes a couple of runs to get the n20 through the lines properly. I will do a burn out on nos to get it through the lines before i race.
Could be why your first couple of runs are not so good.

Cheers
Trav.
