Just received an Innovative Motorsports MTX Digital Oil Pressure and Temperature gauge to install on a 289. The Oil Temperature sensor has a 1/4" NPT pipe thread and the sensor is about 1 inch long past the threads. Any ideas where to best place the sensor? I was thinking of drilling and tapping the oil drain pan plug but I would prefer to keep the sensor and wiring up on the block if possible.

I've seen where people will install a remote oil filter kit and install them on that. Beats risking damage to the block.
