I bought a '89 Colony Park the end of last summer, and haven't driven it too much due to the cold. The body is in great shape so i don't want it to rust up. Anyway, I pulled my boat with it last night and it started losing power and overheating. The boat is only 15 feet long and by no way is it too much for the wagon to handle. Instead of repairing whatever maybe broken i want to upgrade the cooling system. I'm looking on Jegs and found a universal aluminum radiator and a high flow water pump. Only question I have is has anyone done this to a grand marquis like mine before. I'm sure I can get the radiator to fit but will the water pump match up with my pulley system.

Anyone know the towing specs of this wagon? It has a class 3 hitch on it already.

I don't know the towing specs of these cars, but I do know I towed a 1991 Nissan 300ZX on a trailer for 300 miles with my wagon.

Don't get a universal radiator.
Go to www.radiator.com and ask for an aftermarket replacement with 3 rows. it'll only cost ~$140 and it'll be on your doorstep the next day.

Yeah, if you were able to tow that theres something seriously wrong with mine. Did you tow it before or after any mods, how fast did you go and could you go? I'll look into that radiator site, I'm gonna be towing enough to warrent some upgrades. I just ran some tests on the wagon and it gave the code 34 for all three tests. Could a faulty egr system lead to all this trouble? I suppose if the egr isn't working under load the head temp will rise?????

If your EGR is acting up, it'll mess up a lot of things.
However, it never hurts to upgrade the cooling system.

I did that tow bone stock with a full exhaust system (which was actually hurting my pulling power). I now have nearly twice stock horsepower and a five speed, but haven't (and probably won't) towed anything with the new mods.
