G'day,

I dropped into my local exhaust shop a week or two ago & they mentioned that pacemaker have developed a set of extractors for the BA XR8. Also installing these you don’t have to take the motor out. But they take a good few hours to fit!

I gave pacemaker a call & they said they are ready to buy but they haven’t done any dynoing to see what improvements they make.

Has anyone fitted pacemaker extractors to there BA XR8 or can fill us in with some more info!

That sounds very odd - you make an exhaust system (especially for a new motor), and don't dyno it ?

Surely pacemaker would not risk their reputation by doing this?

I gave pacemaker another call today. The extractors are a 4 into 1 design also retailing around the $750 mark.

Also there claim was today that they are making unrealistic power figures & they want to produce the results on a stock standard XR8 which they haven’t done yet. The told me to call back in a fortnight & they should have the results!

I think with any luck with a good set of extractors there should be a nice increase of power! With my dual exhaust from the cats back I got 14RWKW! So hopefully peacemaker has something to wait for here!

Time will tell....

I installed just te headers in a back to back test on my GT and the result was a 7 rear wheel kW.
The rest of the system will be made in a couple of weeks and would expect about a 10 to 15 kW gain. All up the complete system should yield about a realistic 18kW gain at the rears.

The same complete system on an XR8 saw a 19kW gain.

as for the pacemaker hedders they are 1 & 5/8 in diameter & vary in length from 19" up to 26"

to me the Herrod Motorsport hedders are a lot better than that, the only advantage ( if you can call it that ) is that the pacemakers do not require the removal of the engine

i am actually looking for something along the lines of a primary @ 1 & 7/8 diameter & around 28" long with a secondary collector size around 3 1/2 diameter

Rod,
In W.A. we have places that can build you what you want in the way of headers/exhausts. I'm sure they would have them in your neck of the woods. Have you tried anyone like that by chance?? Just a thought.

yes i have built quite a few sets myself over the years but the problem is i do not want to have the car off the road for a week while i build them

having removed a couple of mod motors i'd say that's a bloody big advantage over the herrod system

Our headers can be fitted in with the engine still in the car,the reason we remove it is time factor and we find it far easier.As the pacemaker people say it takes a fair amount of time to fit.We are set up and do a swap in around 2 hrs with no fuss. :edit:

Pacemaker systems will be instore 23rd of this month & will be as follows - dual 57mm T409 stainless with dual square outlets, they will sell for around $1275 inc. gst.
See your local Repco, Autobarn or exhaust store.

I think that price it a bit to much! They quoted me $750 (i called pacemaker) & my local exhaust shop quoted me $850 fitted.
