Hooly Dooly just priced a few things from ford & nearly fainted talk about expensive!!!!
1 piece rubber sump gasket $147
Steel/rubber laminated R/cover gasket $89 ea
T/cover gasket $45 not too bad
Looks like cheapy cork/rubber ones from Repco will be the go :eek:(

1 little rubber hose, about 13cm long.
$32 BUCKS!!!!!!
no wonder they have ignition!!!!!!

come on fellas, that's where they make the bulk of their money! parts industry!

the manufacturer has to pay for the raw materials and labour. then that gets sold to ford/holden/toyota so they pay for the product and transport. then they distribute it further, put up a huge markup and make you pay for all the costs!

I wanted a fuel pump for an XR6 EF...
Ford - $340
Auto ONE - $180

same thing... but why is it almost half price... I bet Auto one have similar costs involved with transport and all...

ford doesn't make a great deal of money per every car they sell. they make a lot of their profits for spare parts, and it's a very profitable business because as long as you have cars, you'll need spare parts!

Is this a bad time to tell you all that i work for ford .. i am a spare parts rep for a dealer here in west oz

I work for Ford too ;) I got a certian T-series part for $640.00 (retail $930.) But I had a shit fight with two dealers (one being mine) to get that good price. You think it'd be trade or cheaper all the time for ford employee's....but noooo!
