The PATS is preventing my 2000 Ford F-150 from starting. This only happens when it is hot outside. I don't think it is a key issue because it happens with either key at random times. Both keys that we use are the original keys. Do you think the heat is keeping the key from being read sometimes? Any ideas on what we can do to fix this or prevent it from happening? If I go to the dealership, is there any clue how much they'll charge to fix something like this? I live in Houston, so this is going to be a recurring problem this summer. It already happened several times over the weekend.

Thanks!

well working at a dealership myself i do know a couple of things when it comes to the PATS function. the way the keys work is that they will either work all the time or not at all, unfortunatly there is no middle ground for them. it sounds like that there might actually be another issue at hand. do you have a remote start system installed?
