I think my car's got a bit more go since I replaced the pedal box. This might just be the usual effect of doing some work on it (like they always go better after being washed and detailed), but I suspect the clutch switch was either out all the time because the pedal was deflecting or, more probably, not properly adjusted so it was always signalling deceleration mode to the ECU.
