i think next on the list is talking in public, you do to much of that and not enough spending your money or stuffing your face you should be fined for it.

or at minimum a disqualification from attending any mall etc *lmfao*

its beyond a joke these days isnt it..

cops out there revenue raising yet crime isnt top priority for em..
dont i feel safe already, knowing my car is safe yet i wont be..

Yeah I've heard about this a while ago, apparently its been around here too. You are only allowed to be x amount of metres away from your car if its unlocked, otherwise it has to be locked up otherwise u can get a fine. I can see how they want people to lock their car to prevent theft, but giving out fines is just stupid.

So is this a federal or state law? I seem to remember some law about leaving your car unattended with the keys and around children or so. The legislation and justifications must be available.

Hmm , while understanding what your saying , think more about the big picture.........

Insurance costs for everyone.

Every idiot that makes a claim cause they are too dumb to secure the car makes the rest of our insurance prices go up and its part of the Govts idea to try to stop that (half azzed as it might be)

Anyone??

seems a bit of irony here - they spend thousands traing cops to book you for not locking your car but dont train em to catch the crooks...

Its like in the 12th man "We work as a team and do it MY way". I would contest it with every ounce of strength and effort.

totally agree, plus think of all the police hours that are taken up by whinging people because they didn't lock their car up. Our local newspaper went around town taking pictures of unlock cars a few months ago and they had no trouble finding them.

I would be embarrised to be a cop that has to go up to someone "ermm we noticed you didnt lock your car, we are gonna have to fine you"

it's called prevention. Easier to make idiots remember to lock their car than to have to take reports, print cars and stuff around.
If people stopped being princesses and thought about why this is happening it would help.

i thought prevention was stopping the bad guys. By locking your car will not prevent them busting a window to find out there is nothing worth pinching. I figure it is like leaving the cash register drawer openin a shop... it hopefully prevents having to foot an expensive damages bill.

prevention means stopping crimes of opportunity. If it's a gimme then they WILL take it , if they have to work a bit then hopefully they will move on to someone that doesn't lock their car
