Mine is pretty basic right now.
I've got the Kenwood eXcelon Z828 mp3 player,
Precision Power PC4800.2,
Boston ProSeries 6.5 components up front,
and a JL 10W3-D2 in a sealed box.

It's a SQ system but it does get pretty loud

*Graphic EQ (Stock), not working because I'm missing a set of wires
*1 of 2 factory amps
*non-working factory sub

Well I'm running this sys in my 94 Chevy Caprice.

Sony indash CD plyr, 35 or 40 watts a channel I think.
Infinity 300 watt 6x9 in the rear and some Polk (ganna get replaced soon, don't care for them) door speakers.

Question I have is that my system still can't handle some REAL REAL good bass when cranked. It doesn't distort or anything, but when LOOOOOOOUUUUD it will cut out for a real real brief moment at the hardest bass sound. I figured the 300 watt Infinity speakers would be able to handle the watt stereo I have now.

Marqman -

If the speakers are accessable from the trunk, try disconnecting one at a time and see if it still does it. Sometimes a speaker will get so much excursion that it can actually ground-out to itself causing a dead short sending the deck into protection. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll do some brain-storming

Hummm, all I can say is when its REAL LOUD, close to stereo tune it up loud limit, on any heavy bass when LOUD LOUD LOUD it will cut out for a split sec, if not shorter. I will try your trick, see what it does. I have been told putting an amp on the system would help this issue!?!?

Yeah that would have been my next bit of advise. If the deck is trying to push alot of current it would have close to the same effect

I had just thought the 300 wat speakers would handle the decks output. Putting an amp on the system would give the speakers even more work to handle wouldn't it!?!?

Sound system!

I think I finally finished my system for a while after the sub and amp combo.
Anyways, here tis:
Head unit: Kenwood KRC-402 fm/am w/tape
Add on: Kenwood KDC-D301 Add-on CD player w/graphic analyzer
Front doors: Kenwood KFC-1677 6.5" 2-way speakers
Rear: Boston Acoustics Rally RX67 6.5" 2-way speakers (custom mounted)
Trunk: Kicker IX405D 5 channel amp (40x4 {@ 4 ohms} + 280x1 {@ 2 ohms}) w/bass controller.
And for the bass: Kicker Comp VR 12" DVC sub in 1.25 cu. in. sealed enclosure wired for 2 ohm impedance.

Sounds pretty good, clean and crisp. Just wish the doors would sound as good as the rears. Just bad angle from the stock mounts.

OK, well it's pretty basic, all stuff from the pawn shop.

Running the stock CD/Tape/Radio player.

2 MTX Blue Thunder 10" Subs
2 MTX Mids
2 MTX Tweeters

(All MTX speakers are built into 2 three-way boxes which are in the trunk)

Also, running the stock fronts and rears.

My amp is a Kenwood 150w?

That's about it, pretty ghetto hookup, but it sounds pretty good!

Peace out!

Marc

Probe CD Player

Hey Homer I put in a call to a place that carries factory stereos this morning it looks like I could get you a Ford CD Radio for about 300-325 plus shipping costs. Once this place gives me a call back I will send ya the exact quote...what type of shipping would you want?

I've got a question. What frequency range does the FM band use in Australia. The US uses 88.0 MHz. - 108.0 MHz. just curious.

Whoa!!! (picks self up from floor)

Gotta remember that's about DOUBLE in 'Pacific Pesos'.......

Hmmm, I'll have to see what $800 can get me down here first. Probably something a little more 'kick ass' than the stock unit....

Thanks for checking for me.........

I'll check on those freqs next time I'm in a store. 87ish sounds familiar.
