Does anyone know whether using the adaptor plates that makes an offset from pre au to post au is illegal?? I know that spacers are but want to know if adapters are or not for insurance reasons. I bought a set of 17x7(35 offset) and 17x8(32 offset) which require a 30mm adapter all round to clear the front suspension and fill the rear guards. Thanx guys.

Thanx Oze50, i have made a few calls and found out that at least here in tasmania anything that adjusts the unsprung weight of your car is not an approved car modification and you can be defected, insurance wont cover it etc. Damn.....

In NSW the full on bolt adapter is engineered and is not illegal as such however if the rim you bolt on to it results in an increase or decrease in wheel track (25mm inside and 25mm outside) then that becomes illegal so essentially to use them to run an AU wheel would be a defect. It's like CB radio's s years ago it wasn't illegal to buy one , just illegal to use it.
