can anyone tell me how much original 17' inch gt rims are thinking about putting them on my ed. another question i have 15' on at the moment and my car sits 6 inches off the ground. putting 17' rims with 235/40/17 tyres will the car sit the same or lower

should sit the same.. bigger wheels, but the diam of the tyre on the outside will always stay the same, hence the 'low profile' speak when talking about tyres.

orig ELGTs cost a heap... also the width is 8.5 instead of the more common 8" width for 17" rims.

As above - but remember to check insurance co. - you might find they are happy with 8", but not 8.5 (mine was like this).
Unless you already have orig. or some compelling reason to get them, I'd save the money and get the copies . . . At least you won't feel as bad when they get scratched
