I have one of these trannys that I can't get the tail;shaft off. My manuals say: pul the cap off the shifter tunnel, remove the shift toggle and the big bolts holding the tail shaft to the tranny and pull the tailshaft housing off-- NOT!It comes about 1/2" back and stops! I'vwe prised, pounded etc with no effect.
ANY HELP OUT THERE?

yes and I've looked for any other clips etc that might be undone.
It has been outside and the steel rearmost bearing in an alloy tailshaft might well be electrolised solid--dissimilar metals!
I just want to try and be sure I'm not missing something and break it by forcing it apart.
If its what I think it is it has a good set of ratios--very close and an alloy case making it light.
It's for my vintage roadracer, a 64 Capri roadster
