I have recently had a new transmission put in my 1993 LX 2.3L. Since then, when the car is idling, in nuetral, and with the air running, I have noticed a rattling, that stops when I push in on the clutch. What can this be?

Also, around 3,000 RPM, there is a different rattle in the transmission, and the machenic ( Cottman Transmission) said that it was the Catalytic Converter rusting out... When I shift gears, I can hear the rattle stop, when I get into neutral, and start up again, when I get in gear. What is this?

1. How is your tranny mount lookin? With a worn tranny mount, your tranny can move quite a bit and rattle off of various parts of the car.

2. Did you swap a different type of tranny in there or did you jsut put another type of the same tranny in there?

rattling transmission-reply

I haven't had a chance to look at the mounts.... The transmission is just a brand new stock mustang transmission for the 4 cylinder
