I’m finding that recall work done to my 2003 Windstar to correct failing subframe mounting points created a misfit elsewhere. The dealership retrofitted braces at high stress points. Where the two rearmost subframe bushings intersect at their respective perches, upper and lower halves don’t engage anymore. The width of that perch has now doubled such that the upper bushing will never protrude through enough to stake the lower half. I’d raised this issue with my local dealership as I’d inadvertently ordered to replace what appeared to be warn or broken bushing—which they did reluctantly refund. Those lower bushings are discontinued anywhere else, but Ford costing $168.00/set. Nobody throws away that kind of money. Their Product Specialist in Customer Relations promised to escalate this issue to the engineering staff(or nobody). When I called‘em today he basically told me, his job is done after relaying to the engineers.
