Hello,
I'm looking for ideas on the topic of replacing my stock 1967 Mustang I6 engine. I would like to get a new engine but keep it a V-6. I'm looking for more power and overall performance but do not want to make too many changes.ideas please....

I meant Inline 6 instead of V6 in title...can't change

How much are you wanting to spend? The T-bird had a 3.8 with a super charger and the SHO produced quite a bit of horse power.

what size is your 6? A 6 is a 6 is a 6. I've seen my friends run over 300 H.P. in an inline
6. Friend of mine had 3 duces on a TRICKED out 6. Ran 11's in the 1/4 mile. Original inline 6. Putting in a V6 will give you more trouble than you can imagine. If you try it i feel for you.

Chipset is right, the 300 six was a very formidable engine. Even though the V's are now more plentiful and more interesting to play with, with an inline, it's easy to go old school as well as go to the new bolt on EFI retro's.

The 200 has approx. 120 H.P. and 190 lbs of torque. The 3.8 ( 232 C.I. ) has approx 145
H.P. and 215 lbs of torque. Both stock. Not that far off. The Ford and G.M. inline 6 is
capable of doing 6500 rpm. anything over that they get " crank whip ". The dodge slant
6 can do 8000 rpm without any problem. ( not recommended ). 3.8 limits out at 5500. My friend had the 250 in his 55 chev. That was the 11 second car. Could light em up any time. Don't under estimate the in line. The 300 is close to 4.9. The 5lt is a 305. I've had this up coming argument before so don't start. Ford now calls the 302 the 4.9 which is to clear up the confusion. The 302 and the 305 are not the same engine. No offense.

That car will soon be 50 and getting harder to find. Might be worth it to keep it stock. Look on eBay and see what 67's are going for. $$$

I think JWKO has something there. Leave it alone. Could be worth big bucks in the future.
Save yourself a lot of trouble. Find a very common V8 powered car with the engine still in it and Trick it out.
