Have a base 94 Probe that has been down for awhile (about to throw a rod). It has been recommended that I replace the engine (not an option--too much $$$), or replace the rods and engine bearings. Anyone know where I can get these parts without being taken on price?

Your cheapest option is to buy a used motor. In Houston, salvage yards typically sell used functional motors for around $700-800. Aftermarket rods and bearings will cost you that much easy, but then you would have to install them. . . I would almost wager that the OEM rods are probably just as much too.

Engine swap is the cheapest route.
