Thought this might be of some interest to BA owners that do a fair bit of country driving. I had this insect screen fitted to my au xr8 ute and when I traded it I took it off and fitted it to the ba xr8 ute. Wasn't going to let them get away with that expensive mod.lol.
All I did was stretched a piece of nylon fly screen, anchored at the top with some soft plastic coated wire and anchored down the bottom the same way to a couple of plastic lugs that are near the bottom of the radiator on the plastic tray.
I know it is only a simple thing but when you come back from a long trip and check the radiator you would be amazed at the amount of insects and as AP said, grass seeds that get trapped on the screen.
When I took the ute in for its 2000k service I had a lower grill fitted and when the service manager spotted the insect screen he suggested I remove it as it would prevent air flow to the engine. As I said to him what would you say when I bring the ute in with grass hoppers splatted all over the radiator and smaller insects stuck in between the 2 cores. Don't drive on country roads!!

The first pic shows where the screen is anchored with the green ties.

This is where it is fixed down the bottom.

This is some of the crap you don't want in the core.

Jase, unless you wait for BA2, there won't be any bugs in this car. :)

I don't think it will work on your ute Jase, don't you deflect them into your air cleaner instead? :) :) :)

AP, the bugs don't care what it looks like. After they splatter on the screen, they just think to the themselves,.... if I had the guts I would do it again.....:) :) :)
