I Have an 88 Bronco ll With a 2.9 MFI. When the base idle is set at 1500 rpm the truck starts and runs great but when I set it down to the 700 - 800 rpm that it is supposed to be I have to crank it for at least 10 seconds for it to start, it goes into its fast idle, cuts down then stalls. I do this 2-3 times then it runs great again. It does this hot or cold. I have replaced the tps but it did not help. What other sensor could be causing this problem? Any help would be appreciated!

Mike, it could be a bad IAC. (Idle air controller) It is bolted on your throttle body. First, clean throttle body of carbon around throttle plate, that may be all it needs. Also, after working on it or changing parts, disconnect battery neg cable, open door, and wait about 10 min. before re-connnecting. This forces computer to reset parameters. Good luck. Don
