Anyone know where you can get those flashing strobe lights to put on the cars aka the pace cars etc? (I notice the cops are starting to use them on their unmarked cars which is of course contrary to RTA regulations)

Narva,Hazard Systems, Whelen, Tomar and a few other companies make proper strobes that sit inside head/tail ights without effecting the other globes. The riceboys also have "pace car" lights. I think HOT 4s magazine has ads for them. Interestingly they are legal IF they are white or amber and don't block other lights.

Do you know anyone that sells retail in Sydney? I'm guessing that if you want to fit the remote units in your lights you gotta drill holes in the lamp housings?

Narva make remote strobe globes that can fit in headlights. The part numbers are:
85330C for the clear
85330A for amber
You will also need a remote power supply either2 head or 4 head. Part numbers are:
85300 for 2 head supply
85304 for 4 head supply
Note that strobes are legal as hazard lights hence I would recomend useing the amber ones. Strobes work a lot better then the normal hazard lights in attracting attention. Any where that stocks Narva should be able to order the stuff, it's just that strobes are rather expensive. I'll get back to you about the price of the Narva set up.

How do you fit them in the headlights? You must have to drill holes in the housing or something?

I was thinking of using the reverse light lenses on rear and front indicators (on the XR).

Being in the trucking game (part time) and meeting drivers on the road in all manner of places the hazard light thing was also a consideration.

Need to see how well Shu-Roo Mk3 fits on the XR front end too....

Now your talking my area! From all the stuff I have on "covert strobes"( their term) they are usally about 25mm in diameter at the base and about 25/30mm long. A mate who fits out the AFP cars told me that they just drill a hole big enough for the glass to poke through in the bottom of the light and use silicon to seal it. I think that the SHUROO will fit snugly in the lower bumper opening or you can use a bracket behind the numberplate. There is a red AU XR8 here with a set of Cibies and a shuroo on the numberplate bracket. I'm looking at doing the same sortt of thing to what ever I get this week.

Hey Ford hurry up with the 4WD Falcon wagon. I WILL BUY ONE!

The covert strobe is gonna be my thing. May try and do better than silicone though! Shu-Roo Mk2 was easy to fit in the lower intake of most cars. Don't know about Mk3 yet due to housing size and twin speakers now.
We'll see.

I'm gonna be spending weeks setting up this car:
- phone kit
- UHF with ground independent
- 27MHz
- driving lights x 2
- shu-roo
- strobes
- headlight upgrades

Might need the stroker to carry it all!
