Hi,

I just bought a (crappy) '81 Country Squire and it has a few little issues.

The most apparent is the misfiring, backfiring, hesitating, etc.. but only when it's warm.

The car runs GREAT when it's warming up, until you put it in gear.

I think the choke is sticking somewhere, is there an easy way to diagnose that?

Any other ideas? Misfires when warm, and at idle. Runs fine when high-idling cold.

It also appears to be missing the TV cable, where is that normally located with the AOD?

An '81 with AOD should have a solid kick down rod instead of a cable, but either should run from the throttle assembly down to the tranny. If it doesn't have one don't drive it! They burn up very quickly if not properly dialed in, muchless missing entirely. You may have an electrical component that is breaking down when hot.
