Looks great reminds me of my sisters superbird which she sold to my brother and bought a.........VU commondoor!! Same colour too, polar white and cosmic blue, but her's had gt guards and xb doors.
Very nice coupe there superbird, 1 of the guys at works dad has an original superbird that is almost finished being restored, and a list of spares to die for (and no he won't sell anything *sobs*)
The superbird goes in for its back to bare metal respray next Monday. Got all the original decals to go back on, new rubbers etc. expected to take 4-6 weeks.
Can't wait to see the finished result. The more coupes on the road the better as far as I'm concerned. Ford could have gone bankrupt after the XCs & I'd still be a happy Ford fan
The coupe came back from bead blasting on Friday, body is pretty good, just some minor rust repairs and a couple of shopping trolley dents here and there.
Need help with something though. The paint should be cosmic blue and polar white (per all the Superbird sales brochures). Problem is that the paint code (3) spits out polar white and apollo blue in the paint code book (being a dual colour code). cosmic blue by itself is 8.
Ford used Different names for the same colours in different models.eg XW Brambles red = XY Vermillion fire.Maybe both blues are the same colour.Cosmic=XA Apollo=XB
Thanks for the tips James, will look into it. Some progress pics on coupe after bead blasting. Bodywork is happening next week, painted in original colours with 2 coats of clear.
Dont know the name but will find out. The Body Shop in Fyshwick ACT organised it and they are painting the car. The bead blaster is somewhere in fyshwick. cost was $700.
my superbird resto is nearly done, the car is about two weeks away from coming out of the spray booth. will post the pics asap when its done.
quick question - mechanically its smick (as its only done 67,000m) but its got the stock single system. im really keen for a nice twin system with growly lukey mufflers. but probably like the goss's, its only meant to be a single system stock.
what do you guys reckon, would a dual system detract from its originallity too much? like the wheels it would be easy to return to stock (ive got the original wheels too)
cheers
