Guys, I've just discovered your web page and it is a beauty. I've tried others and they do not even display technical questions, or the answers. My driveway now has 3 Fords, all on gas, and I want to do the timing on them. The manuals only show petrol details. Can somebody in Ford Land tell the details for an EL Falcoln, a XF carby model, and a TE 250 Ghia Cortina? Also has anyone had experience with Hiclone fuel atomisers? The brochures look fantastic, but I figure every taxi in Australia would be using them if they worked!!! Lucky last, can auto trannies from XD, XE, XF go straight into my lads TE Cortina as the Motacheck report says it is on the way out?

Thanks for reading this anyway. Cheers

ps thanks to dragonV8 for replying to my question in fastlane, but I still need this info on timing

1. Hiclone and every other "Fuel saving device" is crap, no such thing but change your driving style.
2. Efi fords on petrol run about 10 degs, might be able to squeeze 12 degs on gas before the knock sensor ends all your fun.
3. With the carby cars I would try a few degs extra, but if they ping under hard acceleration be sure to wind them back a little sooner rather than later.

No worries leo(snr). As you'll see the guys here are very helpfull, and there's lots of them.

Unfortunately my mechanical knowledge is good for checking tyre pressures and changing my son's XF diff for the umpteenth time.

Just aswell he bought a new AU2 XR8 ute, gives me a break from him blowing diff's.

You can also chat to these forumwhore's (LOL) in MIRC #fordforums.

Hope you get your timing prob's sorted.

Jon
