when i had a non turbo ba xr6 ute, i got the dealer to put on a 2T tow bar.
when i got my xr6t ute, the dealer said i couldn't have a 2T tow bar on it, said turbo's weren't too good at towing, so i settled for a 1500kg tow instead.

it's never bugged me till i sold the boat and now lookin for a bigger one! ders not much around at 1500kg!

any thoughts on y turbos dot tow too good?

I think he lied , a turbo once spinning and close to boost would be fine as long as you watch the cooling

atec77 is right he is full of holden.

The only dissadvantage to using a turbo to tow is there isnt much down low untill the turbo kicks in.

Just think of all the 4wd jappers out there with hairdryers towing the exact boat you wont.

My unit has some boost at 1500 rpm , easy enought to hold it a little longer in a gear if its a weighty tow , is there really much difference between 200 + kw at the wheels and 150 with less boost when towing ?

I had the same problem, I have a 2.3 ton wakeboarding boat.

The dealer gave me the same story, but his right, it’s even in the manual that the xr6t can only do 1.5t. They said it has to do with the turbo being under to much load…

The reason I got the 8 wasn’t because of law implications, or warranty, or anything like that, the only thing I was worried about was my insurance on both the boat and car would be void…

thanks guys, i fixed it .........kinda, instead of a ski boat with a 350 chev i settled for a cruiser, 135 mercruiser, does the job jst fine! as long as i'm on the water i'm not really bothered how fast i'm goin, as long as i can wakeboard off the back.!!!
