ok,whats the difference between the 85le and the 95le BTR transmissions?:shh:

i want to replace my ea auto with an updated 2nd hand unit,would the ef/el auto's be better then ea.:bandit:

i have heard the newer ones don't need the s5 replaced as often as the 85le's do,is this right?:shootout:

also why does the thing rev up when started,just installed a 4 litre motor and the matching ecu.:madman:

keep the 85 the later BTR transmission dont suffer as much from s5 problems because the solenoids used are a completely different solenoid but u can use them in the 85 by changing the bracket that holds the solenoid in to the new style of bracket

The 85 E uses a separate computer module while later cars have the transmission and engine modules combined. To go to a later transmission you will need to swap the wiring harness and the computer modules as well and choose one that it is compatible with your existing engine and fuel injection system. There are other parts that are week in the 85 E (the clutch pack drum) but a good trans expert will know what they and can upgrade the internal parts for you. However if you just put in 4 litre and matching ECU you should already have all you need for the later trans (get one that was avaialble with your new engine).

well the el transmission is in the ea and working perfectly with tcm.
