Desperate for help here.
I have a 2006 Diesel Transit. It went in for bodywork, (rust removal) and after completion, it would not run again.
Engine turns over, fires and runs for 1-2 secs and then turns off.
We have checked the diesel supply to the injectors - fuel is present.
We have checked fuel is coming up to the pump - OK.
We have isolated the 'immobiliser.
We have diagnosed faults and initially, the Crank angle related to the Injection Pump showed an error. New sensor installed.
The diesel pump has been removed, checked on the test bench, it is performing up to specifications. No issues there.
We have 'cleared' and reprogrammed that PCU and it is now showing no fault codes at all.
We have supplied a new key and programmed it to suit.

The engine still turns over, fires and shuts itself off.

I am really keen to hear about any similar experience that people have had and how you solved it.

Thanks
Andrew

Does it die out quickly as if you turned off the engine or "peter" out? Rapid shut off generally indicates electrical, a slower shut down generally indicates fuel delivery. Neither situation is absolute, though.

It dies as though it had just been turned off.... definitely not a 'petering out' kind of stop.

I'm not versed in the Duratorq at all, but if you jump out the run terminals of the ignition switch, you can see if it holds on start or not. That's one part that can be ruled out.

Mk7s have to generate fuel rail pressure before they start and if it drops too low they shutdown. Could it be oil pressure or the oil pressure switch fault cutting out engine ? It would seem to be more electrical the way it shuts down . Have you checked ALL the fuses and relays The transit changed in that year and there are 2 schematics examples but also variations in different models , countries so might not apply

1) Central Locking Fuses: 2 x 15A located under/taped too, steering column.
2) Heater Blower relay is behind centre console (where Fitted),
3) Auxiliary Heater relay is under drivers seat (where fitted).
4) Air Conditioning relay is screwed to rear of engine bay (where fitted), and on LPG models, all LPG control modules / relays arc located behind a removable panel on drivers side dash.
Thanks everyone, Problem solved. It turned out to be a programming issue in the PCM.
