Hi, i have a 1992 Ford Tempo and im trying to reach the crankshaft pulley bolt in order to rotate it and position it in TDC for cylinder 1. But there isn't enough space for a socket and pray bar to fit. Can any one tell how to do this, and which timing mark on the pulley has to be aligned for TDC on cylinder 1. I know the rotor in the distributor must be pointing at Cylinder 1 on the cap .Thanks a lot.

Is there not a access hole behind the tire through the fender well?

Also remember there are 2 revolutions of the crank to 1 revolution of the cam. Make sure you are on TDC on the compression stroke and not 180 degrees out.

There's sort of a notch but it does not expose the crank center which is blocked by the frame there. Correct and specific tools can do it. Motor mount comes off and engine then gets lowered by jack to get to it clean.

Maybe turn engine with serp belt if all plugs are yanked? I've done that.
