LONDON — Jaguar is working on convertible and coupe XKR versions of its new XK, and here are some spy shots of the new model in testing.

The car can be recognized by changes to its front end, including deletion of the horizontal chrome bar through the center of the grilles. There are also four big exhaust pipes at the rear of the XKR version, as well as extended wheel arches and a trunk-mounted spoiler.

The XKR has an aluminum chassis and weighs about 200 pounds less than the current model. It's reportedly powered by a supercharged 4.2-liter V8 that makes 400 horsepower.

The XKR's competitors include the BMW M6 and the Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG. It is expected to be officially unveiled at the Paris auto show this fall, with an on-sale date in 2007.

What this means to you: Gorgeous loves getting spied. Or we love spying gorgeous? Either way.
