Thank you for your e-mail dated 14th September, 2001 regarding the proposed V8 Supercar Race in Perth.
At the present time the Western Australian Government is looking at ways to assist the promoters of the V8 Supercar Race in Wanneroo.
The Department of Sport and Recreation is responsible for sports facilities and is therefore currently examining how the facilities at the Barbagallo Raceway may be improved. Furthermore, the Western Australian Tourism Commission, through EventsCorp, has offered assistance to the WA Sporting Car Club who manage the Barbagallo Raceway by suggesting that a working party be formed to formulate a traffic management plan. That working party would consist of representatives of the WA Sporting car Club, the Department of Transport, the City of Wanneroo and other interested parties.
As you can see, the Government is seeking a workable solution to some of the issues that have arisen at Barbagallo Raceway by involving a number of departments and interested parties.
Yours Sincerely,
Richard Muirhead
Acting Chief Executive Officer
What an absolute piece of Bull**** the government did absolutely nothing they had to wait for CUB to help because there budget is too tight but they can afford to hold the Rally which only brings in .3 mill and they spend 5mill.
What a load of CRAP when will the Government realise the V8's is Australian and WA should be apart of that.0
