When I first swapped out my tail lights, I needed a new wiring harness....so I go into ford and this service advisor approaches me. I am holding the old harness and hold it up to her. I tell her I need this. she then says its discontinued, without even asking me what it was. I said I needed the part and she said she didnt know what it was. Idiots!

i've got one for you.

when i was actually restoring my 1966 mustang, instead of just letting is sit (as it does now), i had the service/parts guys at my local ford dealers try to give me advice on what to do. this was almost always in conjunction with them telling me that the part i was ordering was not the proper part for the car.

my response to this particularly overbearing idiot was:
  • 'do you own a classic mustang?'
  • 'have you ever worked on a classic mustang?'
both times, his response was 'no'.

after hearing this, my next response was: 'then shut the hell up and bring me the part i just ordered. if i need your opinion on my car, i will give it to you.'

usually, they'll look at me with some stupified look, then go get the part, IF they have it in stock. more often that not, they do, but i HATE dealing with this type of stupidity.

i can't wait until i have to take the cobra in for maintenance.

Parts people are funny. I love calling around to the Mazda and Ford dealerships around here and telling them they're flat out wrong when they look me up a part. The silence on the phone when they see that I'm right is just so cool.

Parts store people are not much better sometimes. Though they are a bit more fun to mess with.

Geez......I can be a cruel guy. :evil::D ;)

I havent called up Mazda yet for parts...but Im tempted to if I cant find it any other way. I really prefer not to go to Ford, becuase well...they are cluless when it comes to the Probe/mx6. They think the two arent related...I guess I cant blame em too much...my local ford dealers just are clueless.

It's disheartining to know that the company that built your car has no idea on how to fix it............it's a shame:(

Trey, on the flip side, I didnt know about this until my mechanic told me.

The Honda Accord and Acura CL have the same engine. I was shocked to find that out...so I can see it when people dont know the probe and mx6 are related.

Though you'd still think that working at the dealership, they'd be privy to the fact that they were aboot the same.....

I dunno sometimes........

Last summer when I was in Germany I went to a dealer to buy a Cougar grill since they are Ford there not Mercury. I wanted something different and it matched the lower grills which the Mercury did not. They didn't even total speak English but figured out in about two seconds what I was talking about and had it their the next day!

To bad they can't hire some more people like that at the dealerships here in the states!

that would be just too much to ask bob....

you know how we in the states want something for nothing. most employees dont want to work. that has been the norm as of late i noticed.

Peopel at Ford are very dumb. One day I brought my 1996 Thunderbird(later crashed and sold) to the nearby Ford Dealer. As I pulled in a guy came out. This was like 3 months before they stopped making the Birds and they were still on sale. I told him that I needed a replacement taillight. He went over to the phone. " Yes sir, ok sir ill tell him" He walks over to me and says " Iam sorry sir but we will have to order the part form a different dealer. I said why? He told me that because I was driving a lincoln continental they would have to get the part from lincoln. Last time I checked the TBIRD was a Ford and not a lincoln continental. I said to forget it and left home laughing.

hell, i would have laughed at his dumb ass right there. ;)

i went to my local ford dealer not that long ago looking for svt related stuff. turns out that they didn't have anything, but you should have seen all the salespeople and a few customers turn their heads as my cobra rolled up into the lot. it was amazing. one person was motioning to the salesperson that they wanted one like mine. too bad that dealer wasn't an svt dealer. heh.

He probably didnt know what cobras are! He was probably thinking that ot was a custom made GT with a body kit! Anyways, If I was the owner of Ford, I would throw out 90 percent of the employees because they are morans!
