Just wondering if warranty repair work HAS to be done by a Ford dealership? Unfortunately I live in Newcastle which means Klosters own every dealership around, and after two horrific performances by them I would not even send a Holden to them.

I am not sure how they are reimbursed from Ford for warranty work but I'll be !#[email protected]'ed if I am help a service dept. this bad make money

In fact they have been so bad it would make an interesting thread to see some of the good and bad service departments at Fords dealerships. The good ones should get the recognition and the bad ones deserve the pasting. Service dept's have never influenced my new car buying before, but they certainly will now.

Yeah you can get warranty work done elsewhere, but only catch is that you'll have to pay for it ;) But I think you'll find that in some cases it may be better to get the car fixed by someone else, its amazing how much extra effort a Mechanic (or anybody for that matter) puts in when they are actually going to get paid for the job

A dealer would much rather be doing high profit Services than fixing warranty claims.

Sad but true, if it is any help i believe the Kloster service dept at Raymond terrace is heaps better than the one in town. I have had many interesting moments with the Service manager in Town, he a Fooookin ^%$#@!

I believe AZTECH's problems are beyond paying for it himself. However, the way warranty works is that the dealer creates an invoice to Ford who settle the claim based on standard amounts and types of work. There is an index which allows comparison between different dealers so as to show which ones are hitting the warranty system harder than others (and audits may follow!). This is where the resistance can come to honouring warranty. It is often up to the customer to stand firm and make a fuss, however you shouldn't have to do this as it sours any relationship for the future.

I have to say, I have bought heaps of cars in my time and City Ford have been the best of the best. I even tried European to get service, but City Ford just keep stepping up as perfect in most ways. The trick here is that I get better service because I bought the car there (Rudy Mijalovski, City Ford Crown Street Sydney). That was the pure driver of my purchase as Dominelli's (my local dealer) couldn't fix a car to save their lives (another thread I assure you!).

Sorry for the long winded post..............

There was another similar thread about this a while back. There weren't too many people with something nice to say about warranty and servicing at their local Ford dealer. Quality service seems to be the exception rather than the rule.:(
It's probably no different whatever brand of car you drive.

I will stand by my original comments that Ford need to do something about the sub-standard quality of Ford Dealer Workshops.

Some a exceptionally good, others are disgustingly bad...

And if you buy a car and have it serviced at a BAD one, you will never buy there again.

Ford really need to step in and slap some dealers around a bit, to make them start doing higher quality work.... More Stringent Quality Control procedures and audits..

Come on Ford....

Laminge. Dont Settle for That.. Ford Vehicle Warranty is 3 Years/100,000KMS. The warranty does not vary from part to part. The 3 years.100,000km will apply to everthing..

Kilometres wont wear the carpet out.. Time will though!
