My Ford Territory 2011 Diesel I purchased in 2017 has had soaking wet carpets from that time on, and finally a simple fix was found. At one stage prior to my ownership mechanics must have had the door liners off to replace speakers or the window winding mechanisms and subsequently pulled the door liners off. BUT they often neglect to re-glue the funny brown foam water deflecting material (and internal liner) back down,...and also to glue the inside door liner surrounds on to the door. By not doing this simple thing, the water in a rain storm runs down the window, into the door, is not deflected towards the bottom drain holes, and this water actually fills up the inside cabin door liner, and with all that internal water flowing down and working it's way inside the cabin and soaking the carpets.
This "glue fix" could be applied to any car that has had the door liners removed at one stage I would think.
Evert. Yaaay!
