OK guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew what the horsepower and torque was for a Focus ZX3. Also, do all the Foci share the same engine, the Zetec? My Durango has cost me alot of money lately (payments,gas) so I have been seriously thinking about getting a four-door Focus for the family. That way I can haul everyone and still have a car that I can heavily modify!

Ok, well I got the answers when I went for a test drive. The base engine puts out a paltry 110hp, and 125tq. It's the 2.0L SPI Four. (Split Port Induction)

The ZX3 and ZST models offer a 130hp, 135tq 16v DOHC Four Zetec engine which is a little more capable in terms of power.

Very poor mileage on 2001 Focus

My 2001 focus has the 2.0 engine not the ztec, it is auto. The mileage , which is the only reason I purchased this car is terrible 18 to 20 in town 25 tops on trip. I am going to drive this thing through the dealers showroom if it doesnt get better. Does anyone have a number I can call to speak with Ford about this

I'm not sure why you are not getting better mileage. What did it say it got on the window sticker? Maybe if you got a 5-speed you could have gained a few mpg's? Sometimes an engine get's better mileage once it's been broken in a little bit. Maybe after your next oil/filter change things will loosen up a little and your gas mileage may get better.

You should be seeing higher than 20 in the city in that 4-banger! My V6 get's 19 in the city, 26 highway.

Call Ford ask them what they think?

Dogman, Marc is right your gas milege should be better than that. I have a 2.5L V6 and I get 20-24 in the city and 26-30 on the highway. Just depends on how I drive and traffic.

Spoke to Ford

I spoke to Ford about the poor mileage , they more or less said tuff you bought it live with it. I will give 2 thousand more miles then I am going to our state attornry general we have tuff lemon laws here. They didn't even offer to look at it or anything
