OK, the car is a 1990 Ford Probe 3.0L V6, 5-speed. Mods for power include cone intake, 2.5' inch mandrel bent exhaust, pacesetter muffler, phenolic spacer, ported/polished intake manifold, stage 5 race heads.

I'm expecting about 180hp at the flywheel, and 200lbs torque at the flywheel. The car weighs around 3,000 lbs right now. I do plan on removing about 100 pounds before the races however. So what kind of time should I be expecting? High 14's at least? Low 15's?

The car has been tested between 15.8-16.2 seconds STOCK in the 1/4.

I still have much to do- 3.0 has potential I can tell...

Cartested.

Ok I was cartesting, I dunno if you've used Cartest.. anywho...

I did some different methods of testing. My results came up as a 15.0-15.4 quarter mile, 6.9-7.4 0-60. BUT Cartest was off big time on our cars, along with other cars with more torque than horsepower.

Considering if you have port matched your lower intake with your upper, you're low end torque has decreased. (TORQUE itself has INCREASED a lot) You should reach peak torque between 3700-3900 rpms, like the modern Vulcans (which have only been modified in the lower intake manifold and possibly throttle body).

I think you could be reaching 14s...the weight of the car is what's keeping it down. Stock (non fully loaded) MTX LXs have been rated at 2,790-2,850 pounds, with the 4 cylinder N/As 70 pounds behind. Did you know that the turbo cars weigh more than the 3.0? Anywho, I think you have a good chance.

Unfortuently with my slushbox, I dont have much hope for my car. I may end up getting the upper intake manifold port and polished along with the 5.0L throttle body from Jason King, then port and polishing the lower intake manifold. That should get me up to around 170hp+ and hopefully into the 15s. That'd be nice to have a 3.0L ATX hitting 15s.

Yeah actually I forgot to mention that the lower intake is port matched with the upper intake, and the heads as well. Yeah I was wondering about Cartest, it seemed a little off on our car, wasnt sure why on that. Even with 180/200 it was saying 15.5 seconds or something like that. Also, my car is FULLY loaded with every possible option imaginable, that's why I think it's around 3000 pounds. Yeah I heard that the GT's were heavier also, due to the intercooler, piping, and all the extra ground effects. But then again, they have the torque to move that weight. It's just like the WRX, that beast weighs almost 3200 pounds! But since it's so powerful it does not really make a difference!

Maybe I should swap the hp/tq in Cartest and get a better analysis. Maybe I should enter that I have 200 hp and 180 tq.

When it comes to 1/4 racing there are way too many variables to take into consideration. Weather, track condition, driver, are only a few.
You can also gain about .10 of sec just by dropping you air pressure in the drive tires a few pounds. :thumbup:

Just curious, have you raced it latley? And how many miles do you have on it?

I ran mine a few years back and got a 15.4 @86.9mph with very few mods to the engine, the day I raced was perfect for racing, Dry cool and humid with a tail wind:D with about 90k on the engine. Then I ran it a few weeks later and got a [email protected], and that day was Dry and Hot!!! so weather does make a huge difference:(
