In the first week on February I am going to be in Melbourne, during the day I am going to need to do something to occupy myself... does anyone have any suggestions of anything, particulary things which are unique to melbourne?? I was thinking about doing one of those MCG tours, does anyone know anything about them (cost/are they good etc..) any other ideas would be great... I can go see a movie in Adelaide lol..

I was there for pretty much two days - walked around the CBD shopping first, that was pretty cool. If only Melbourne Central was up and running! Myers still rocks though.

Take the free city circle tram right around the CBD, see if there's anything you'd like to look at, jump off it whenever. It's good for checking out what to go and look at.

Go up the really tall building (can't remember the name) on a fine day it's got great views, but the Coke up there tastes really weird.

Um, I wandered around the Gardens just over the river and some of the Botanical Gardens and had a bit of a snooze just to get away from it all before I flew home, but you're probably not into that!

Can't forget the Victoria Markets, plenty to look at there. Picked up some cool faceplates and stuff for my phone there too.

Ummm... That's about all I did really, but it could be cool catching a tram out to one of the not so middle of the city parts, I remember going somewhere with Laminge and the XA's before Raid 2 where it was just like cafes and stuff all down the streets, outdoor and all that. Nice place to eat.

Same as what Gary said, if you're old enough head for MG's, then they won't be able to hassle you about it any more!

Rialto Towers is great, bout $11 to go to the top viewing area. Melbourne zoo is way better than the Adelaide zoo, The markets rock. No one suggested Melbourne Aquarium? i assume this is still there (on the yarra river) Watch sharks swim over and around you. Tram down to St-Kilda for lunch just to see how much better Adelaide's beaches are. Walk around the city and look at chicks (pick up a cheap pair of sunglasses from said markets to disguise the glances- lol) Plenty of good places to shop and eat and the city feels safe at night (rialto towers at night is great to). Australian Open tennis should be finished by then, a tour there or the mcg might be cool.

Federation Square is great. Free Aussie art including Shearing the Rams and the Pioneers.
Will take you about 3 hours just to check out the building.

Then across the street to Young and Jacksons for some cold ones

yeah I am spewing I wont be there for then... I am going to canberra, sydney, and melbourne for sport, but then have to be back in adelaide by the 13th so I can fly to canberra again on the 14th... fun fun fun...

so who would be interested in a meet up over there, and what sort of thing?? i might have to post some thing in on the road...
