It does seem strange RTStabler. There have been some awesome Ford's put out in Europe which seem to find there way down under. The Focus is in the US so you may get some good things come your way in this car.Do you follow the World rally?.I'm hoping we mite get some people in here that own some of these Cosworth powered cars. I have owned one myself and it was pretty well setup.I found a site on the net where a guy had worked his Cosworth Sierra to put out 504 hp and 667 Nm of torque. This was for road use and they can put out up to 550 hp in race trim. UNREAL!!

LOL. Yep the Falcons down under are awesome cars and looks like they will get even better. We do love the cars you guys have in the US tho. Mustangs are held in high regard here in New Zealand and Australia. What is the Contour you have a pic of like.

Well, Dont you guys have the Mondeo ST24 or ST200 down there? I know they do over in Europe which i Believe is the same thing as the Contour SVT. Its a nice little car. Its place is on a road course though. Its a very good handling car. Fairly quick for what it is < a small 4 door sedan>. I ran a 15.47 @ 89 last week in the 1/4. It is geared very low tho. 4.06 so when I'm doing 85mph on the highway i'm turning about 3500-3750rpm, which is alot i believe for cruising.
I just want to get my TBird back on the road and get back to V8 & Rear wheel drive power!!

I thought it was one of our Mondeo's by the looks. They are a bit tame compared to V8's.

Just a few comments

I've read up on the Cossies on the internet, and I drool everytime I see one. I personally really like the look of the Sierra the best, it is a beautiful car. Too bad the Merkur XR4Ti in the states didn't come equipped with the Cossie engine.

About the Mondeo ST200 and the Contour SVT. Yup, they are pretty much the same car.. just different as a Mondeo is different from a Contour (trim, etc.) But, in England you can get the ST200 in Estate form, how awesome. I have a soft spot for station wagons, espeically sport wagons. Bring on the Audi RS4 Avant!!

Down under, how lucky you guys are to get the Falcon XR6 and XR8. I'm not a big fan of the quad lights, but that's about it. Everything else about that car is to go ga-ga over. If only Ford would be smart and bring those bad boys over here to the states. Talk about filing the void of a mid-size, affordable performance RWD car. I'd line up for one (even with the bug-eye'd look)

Hi XR5Topazbri. There has been a lot of interest in the XR Falcons from you guys.I think Ford should sell them in the USA. Those Sierra Cossies are awesome.I used to own one and it was everything you could want. I better put some pics in here.

XRs

I had actaully never heard of the XR Falcons until about a month ago. I knew of the Holden Commodores, and that they are the equivalent of a 4-door Camaro Z-28 with the V8 6spd combo. I figured that Ford of Au would have something to compete with it. I found out about them while doing some reasearch on the XR cars of Ford Motor Company. Originally, all I knew about were these:

XR2 : Mercury Capri (aussie built roadster)
XR3 : Mercury Lynx (US), Ford Escort (Europe)
XR4 : Merkur
XR5 : Mercury Topaz
XR7 : Mercury Cougar

I thought that the XR6 would have been a natural for an SHO powered Sable, and possibly the XR8 would have been a Merc Grand Marquis done up ala Impala SS (or the new Marauder). Then I found out that the XR6 and 8 actually did exist, down under.

I really think that Ford would make a nice profit if they spent the money to get them federalized for the US. You'd have alot of people that shop the european cars shopping ford only because they are RWD.
