When I am driving along, with my foot only pressing the gas pedal a little bit [around 1,500 RPMs or less], I hear a windish-type noise coming from the engine... is this normal, or should I have my dealer check it out...

its a 2001 V6 Mustang Coupe...

you may be hearing intake noise and that is normal. At higher RPM's there are other sounds that get louder and mask the intake sounds. Try changing the sound by moving the gas pedal slightly and see if the sound changes/goes away.

Yeah, when I press the gas pedal down some more, the sound goes away... so this is normal intake noise?

I'd have to hear it to be 100% positive, but if it sounds like a hallow hissing, my money is that it is normal. It should still be under warranty so if it's causing you to lose sleep, let the dealer check it out.

We've all got the "noise"

Don't worry for a second about the noise you hear at low rpm and partial throttle. It is simply intake noise. You are actually hearing the air/fuel intake mixture process. It means your 'Stang is healthy and just waiting for you to give it a little more gas! I know when I got my 2001 V6 I also noticed that sound right off the bat. I was taken aback before I realized what it was and confirmed it.
Now just go out and enjoy that beautiful car!
