Hi all.

I'm planning on replacing a heap of parts on the front end of my XB and I was after any tips you guys might have.

Replacing;

Pitman arm
Lower ball joints
Upper ball joints
Idler arm
Caster rod and link pin bushes
Lowered springs
Gas shocks

I've got a couple of mates helping but I'm wondering if there are any special tools I'll need to organise for the day?

ANY tips would be great!

Cheers,
Garry.

The ball joints may be riveted in, so will need to drill them out, you will need a ball joint seperator, small mallet, and a rubber mallet (for when you worried about breaking something), a breaker bar (length of pipe will do) give you that extra leverage if the bolts wont break loose, and some WD40 is always helpful, other than that, just the standard arrangement of spanners and sockets.

Replace the camber pins too. These do wear and come out of adjustment, so buy a a set with fine thread, and make sure the cams are a really tight fit.
Some of them are crap, beware.
It's also a good idea to replace the spring saddles with a unit that has urethane bushes.

I have never used one. Two hammers will work. Hold one up to one side and hit the otherside.

Use K-mac camber bolts. Use the larger metric size and drill out the hole to suit.
