I'm seriously considering purchasing a manual XR6T, and have factored in the cost of an APS Stage 2 kit.
My problem is the lack of strength of the orignal T5Z box, given that the APS kit apparently produces 550Nm+ of torque.

Just wondering what my options are in upgrading the box to safely handle the power. Approximate costs would also be nice.

1. Can you fit a Tremec T3550 or (T3650 as per the BA XR8's)? I know the bell housing would need to be changed but what about tailshaft and mounting etc.

2. I've heard that T56's can bolt straight in, but I believe they are expensive.

3. Other options?

4. What price would I get for a brand new T5Z from an XR6T?

Thanks,

Mick

Try Mal Wood auto. He is a bit far from you being in warwick but he is very informative. I think he also does trade ins for your box. His ph no is 07 4661 3548

The XR8 box won't fit. The best option is the T56 but that will set you back about 6-8 grand but would be well worth it as they will handle a lot of torque. Use the Mustang T56 as it is geared better than the Commodore version with its useless sixth gear.
