Hi guy 96 el xr8 auto, runs and revs great for about 20 mins or until at running temp then bam!! won't idle or accelerate coughing and backfiring. Have changed plugs, leads, dizzy, cooling temp sensor, manifold sensor, , fuel pump, fuel filter, and checked fuel pressure reg, rotor button, alternator, air filter and cant afford to take it to the shop or spend more cash on parts so any suggestions would be great and looking to see if anyone has a el v8 air flow meter I could test with in Perth sor. Thanks guys

This thread on the Australian spin off forum may help too https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11477686&highlight=rough+running+warm To other possibilities is that there is a hairline crack in the coil that opens up once the engine is warm.
It might also be an inlet manifold leak that opens up when the heat warms and expands the metal of the heads and manifolds. While very much less common on the V8 compared to the six, it does happen. Use a metre or so length of windscreen washer sized hose with one end in you ear while you poke around the inlet manifold listening for a sucking noise. Do this with engine idling both when the engine is cold and once it's at normal operating temperature (as the change in temp can often open or close the gap where the leak is) The usual tricks of spraying oil, engine start aerosol, butane or similar to find the leak usually won't always work on these engines especially when it's a very small leak (because the ECU rapidly adapts to small additions of these fluids and gases and the change in engine revs will not be so noticeable).
