Is it wrong to want an XR8 ute when your not a tradesman??? I see the performance value of a ute more than its practical value and I realise they are a real work horse when compared to the show pony SS ute.

Someone please put me on the straight and narrow - am I crazy for wanting an XR8 ute????

I just want one!

Also found this cool 6 minute video of a red AU XR8 ute doing the rounds in a carpark in the US!!!!

http://www.theautochannel.com/cybercast/americandriver/2000/ford_falcon_multi.asx

And to quote the article "...Ford says it can’t import the Falcon Ute because it’s a truck-type vehicle that would get hit with a 25% import tax. But Toyota got around this tax on its pick-up truck for years by making the pick-up bed in California, importing the truck from Japan, and assembling the two in the U.S. Since local assembly was involved, it avoided the import tax. We think Ford could do the same thing..."

I'd have to use it to cart the stuff to and from uni in...that'd save me piling all the stuff up in the trusty old XF soo much so that all I end up with is a single seat for me to drive the thing from, the stuff i need is piled in everywhere else!

Yep, when I load up the old galant (which I still don;t have back yet) with my amps and sh!t, it drops about 2" in the back and can't pull up hills ( well maybe just). Lucky for the high adjustable suspension!

The thing is with the Ford Ute, apparently visibilty is real bad, so having lost total vision in my left eye, I need all the visibility I can get!

Hehe good to see I'm not the only one!

Ha but have yet to see a person driving an XR8 ute in a business suit :D :D

The rear of the EB is way too high - i have a sub box in the boot with 2x10 inch subs but that still doesnt lower it - although when i have 3 rear passengers it lowers the car quite nicely :)

If you want it get it. Who cares what people would think. Except that they would all want one as well. Anyway don't say it's a ute, say it's a coupe with a real big boot!

I was stuck behind an VU SS ute ysterday and i realised how FUGLY they are (everyone else also says they are fugly).

They just look sh!t, expecially the back. (I dont mind the look of the VX SS sedans).

About 10 minuts later, I had the pleasure of sitting behind an White AUII XR8 Pursuit ute, [email protected] WHAT ONE HOT BABY!!! OOH YEAH... :)

Ok I am calm now.. :)

I think the side and front profiles are fine, but the arse end is just plain ordinary. The badge shouldn't be in the centre of the tailgate. It just looks wrong. Mind you I hope they keep it there so the Falcon ute keeps on selling through the roof... :D

I've seen a few myself and they don't look too bad but the AUII XR8's easily out number 'em... :D

I like the Ford extra cab space and look but I gotta tell ya Brockies Targa bus looked good. Lowered and with wheels that really filled the guards it was good. Same treatment for the XR8 gets my vote though Just call me loyal (OK you can stop with loyal no don't keep going with those other name I SAID STOP DAM IT)

The VU is to big outside and to small inside. That and the fact the thing is poser ute, no offence to anyone. BTW second hand AU utes still pull big $$. Friends of mine just sold their XR6 ex Pirtek showcar for not much less then a newie, $33,000 I think they said.
