Well, my mum has been driving my car for the last week, so I reset my trip computer, looked at it today, it's 10.1 l/100lm, all around town.

Might have to get your mum to come and Chauffer me around, would be nice not to see constant 18 -20 / 100klm shown on my display

 

I've done a few tests with my 89 EA 3.9 MPI.

It's done 234,000 KM and these are the results I am getting:

11.73L/100Km (combined city / highway)

10.38L/100Km (highway)

11.27L/100Km (combined city / highway)

The combined results are mainly highway, but with a few K's done in the city.

The pure city driving is up towards the 14-15 mark.

 

My AU I6 Fairmont gets 8.5L/100km Highway 10.5-11L/100km City and my ED XR8 averages 12L/100km Highway 15L/100km City.

 

Jus had a service done to my car, and its totally solved the high ave fuel consumption. Needed an injector clean (strange for a car thats done only 106 000kms) new sparkies, fuel filter and oil change and its a beaut now. Ave 13.9L/100kms, in constant start stop straffic and also short distances.

 

I've been driving like a granny for the last tank just to see what I could get out of the tank.

I drive 50/50 highway and city, and on the first trip to work (30mins), I averaged 6.9L/100. By the time I got home that afternoon, it was reading 8.6l/100kms.

Next tank i'll try a full tank of Optimax or something to see if that is an more economical.

At the moment (by the computer) I should get around 700ish at an average of 8.6-7l/100kms. I drive a modded EF XR6 Fairmont Ghia.

 

Btw how do you re-set the computer in the car??

 

hmm press the reset button on the trip computer when you have the display you want higlighted

 

Sorry i meant to say to reset the whole system. Not just the ave fuel and the ave speed setting.

 

I just got back from Mt gambier - approx an 1000 km round trip and averaged 7.5 Litres to the 100km !!!!!! - Im wrapped with that figure and the car ran perfectly at 2350 rpm @ 111 KM/H (exhaust was LOUD but didnt drone too much, this is the 1st country trip i have done


Manual of course and only premium fuel (BP ultimate Preffered but had to put alot of caltex in)

That means i could get approx 900 km out of an tank

Well if its all highway driving about 12 l /100km
mixture of both highway / city about 16-17l/100km
city driving about 20l/100km

 

my Xc (3 speed, 4.1 @ 350+ kms) does ruffly 11L / 100km ... no computer just noting the amount of fuel at the pump, and workin it out ( had to do it 3 times cause i dident beleve it).

 

I manage 15L... but I was told that the Fairmont Ghia's are heavier.
