Mine doesn't have a detachable face either. What I did was make a cover that slips into the gap between the headunit and the console surround. The cover is made from box cardboard and is covered in a black cloth (glued to the cardboard). I can post pics tomorrow if you want to see exactly how it looks. It's not ideal but better than nothing, and it has worked for the past 2 years!

 

Dont bother with the detachable face, the lowlifes are able to tell that there is a CD player, even with the face removed (people usually just put the face in the glovebox anyway).

My face got stolen one time, pointless - couldnt use the CD player for ages cause i had to order another face

 

Yeah your right...after all theyd prolly break in anyway as you said most people leave the face in the car

i have a clarion unit with a detachable face and the only time i take it off is when i am pulling my centre console out, and XFs arent exactly a fortress of security are they.

 

The whole "oh well they will break in any way so why bother with detachable face" is a crock.
Detachable face and other "minor security features" (clublock)
arn't there to make your car theif proof they just discourage the lazy low lifes. While it's true that a good thief could get around anything it's normally stupid theifs that do all the work.
After being a victom of theft I say get a detachable face and take it every where. Make it not worth their while.
