i was just wondering if coppas were using undercover ed wagons at some stage?
my car has an spac cluster and it's a gli so i'm starting to get thoughts it's a x-coppa car

is there any way to tell the differance between standard gli and coppa car?

where abouts to look for plastic welding cause i have a dash cap in my car which i can't pull off without snapping and i don't wonna snap it incase the actual dash is in worse contition

I highly doubt it'd be an exchaser. Never heard of wagons being used apart from dog squad and stuff like that.

If it was one, wouldnt it be listed on the compliance plate?
i see alot of undercover wagons these days out there all the vy's and ba's
and i remember an el wagon pulled my dad over once

tommi, all over the dash and console there will be holes. also check for holes in the carpet under the front seats as they have part of the radio units under there.

also if it is ex cop it will have a cago barrier or at least teh holes from where there was one.

also the little lines on the speedo and tacho are closer together, 1kmh instead of 2kmh incrememts.

it should say it on the vin plate.

it should be lower than usual, and have 15" silver "intercepter" steelies

dunno of anything else at the moment

oh ok i think madnc_8 just summed it up pretty well mine aint an x-coppa

LOL .... Im about to change my cluster over cause I hate the idea of not having a tacho :p I think I have latched onto a Spac one as well ....

I know Im not the only one who come up with this idea so my guess mad_ea_spac is that the previous owner was like minded to me ;)

well actually i wouldn't have even looked at the car if it didn't have the tacho in it i was looking at futuras and crap and found this and i just checked it out to see the diif b/w futura and gli and i ended up getting this cause while i was looking through the gli the futura got sold so i took the next best thing :s5

i think it coulda been sawpped for km 's sake cause it only has 157,900 in it atm

My Mum's car is an ex-Police car, and there's no 'closer speed increments' (true for EF/L, not EA-ED), there aren't holes 'everywhere' there are two beside the passenger sun visor and two in the a-pillar trim. It's also not written on the VIN anywhere, and the EDs never had 15" steelies.

Just wanted to clear that up.

If you call Ford on 1800 333 306 and make an enquriy on your VIN they should be able to tell you all the options and accessories selected when the car was ordered. They can also tell you the selling dealer, date of manufacture, date of purchase and the original registration number.

sundeep have you had a CLOSE and i mean close look at the dash?mycar has holes on the dash that have been plastic welded,if you look carefully you can see the spots where this has been done,i also have holes in the map pockets on my front door, and a hole that has been bunged up in the firewall leading into the cabin,im sure the opt.20(dont hold me to this)means police and possibly taxi pack.

OPT 20 was on the compliance plate of EF/EL cop cars.
not sure about earlier ones.

Well from what I saw, there was some sort of mount on the radio surround and holes in the console. There's a triangular imprint in the roof lining with two holes and the old LHS a-pillar trim had 2 holes in it, i think they were for a grab handle. There's one hole on the LHS of the roof about 1cm in diameter but has now been bogged. The drip rails are chewed towards the front of the car from where the sirens etc. were mounted.

You can still see a glossy bit on the roof where massive lettering once read "K 53".

The suspension is slightly lower than standard and the car was fitted with 215/65/14 tyres from factory instead of 185/75. It also has a full Fairmont loom in it and high series interior lighting.

That's all the stuff I know about EA Police cars.

just discovered i have opt20 on my plate would take a pic but my cat broke my camera (long story)
also i to have 215/65/14 tyres on mine
i checked around for plastic welds and all but i didn't find any , could be the x owner might of changed all places where the holes were and put a dash cap over the dash to save $$$ of a new one

i don't know
but i deffinetally now know the car is an x-plod cause it had the opt 20 embossed into the compliance plate
and it has many upgrades over a stock ed main ones being the diff and the cluster

and i also realised 2 holes in the bumper and a few others today when i was fittin spotties which could have been the places the coppas had their lights

have you rang ford and asked them what opt20 actually is on an EB/D? also being what, 10-12 years old all those things could have been changed by anyone just the same as you mentioned about your tyre size. 2 holes in the bumper could have been for anything including driving lights just like you are doing now. without actually finding out what the opt20 is on your car then everything else it has now doesnt mean a thing.....its an old car and of course things are going to be changed.

nah but all the holes are in all the places where plod's had their cb's and every thing
like it has holes in the console i changed the quadrant and the stereo surround which had holes and the top rear gate trim cause it had holes and brackets in it where the lights were held most prolly

i'm gonna check with ford next time i have a day off school it's just i cant call them during the day
