Is there any engine or chassis number which identifys a car as a falcon or a fairmont? I had a look in the manual and there doesnt appear to be any serial numbers which indicate that a car is a falcon or a fairmont...

Does this mean that the only way to tell is by checkiong the features such as square headlights and badges etc?

Did you also know that the square headlights were fitted to all later model XC Falcons...These were known as XC 'Updates' , don't know if that is an official Ford term though.

As they did not make any XC GT 302/351 models (Coupe) they were called GS models and did score a lot of polution gear on them
The XC Cobra was created to get rid of the remaining shells (400)
The XB was the last of the real GT series.
I thought the early model XC "Twinlights" were called "Rally Pack" , not "GS" as previous in XB ??? Anyone ???My friend is the second owner of one of these models , and it has a small tag wired to the radiator support panel by the factory marked "Rally Pack". I also think I am right about all late XC's having Square headlights...Will check more into it and appollagise if am incorrect.

Very sorry ... After more research , the above seems to be incorrect . Looks as though only XC Fairmonts and GXL had the square headlights and see thread #7 by gregaust for more accurate information on the XC 'Update'...Thanx.

XC square headlights are on 4door Fairmont GXL and Fairmont Hardtop (Coupe)
XC Falcon GS Hardtop (Coupe) has the round lights with the extra round lights in the grille like the XC Cobra.
