THE QUEST for a new Land Speed Record is the new priority for the Raptor 600+ … shining star of the Melbourne Motor Show.

The Raptor, which took three years to develop, is an ultimate go-and-show ute with revolutionary styling cues including gullwing doors and dynamic ground/effects aerodynamic devices. It was conceived by Roman Auto-Tek and developed under a new partnership with Hilliers Conversions. Based on the street-legal workhorse from Ford’s award-winning Falcon range, it confirms the BA Falcon as the ‘hot property’ of the moment.

Undisputed ‘People’s Choice’ champion of the recent International show, The Raptor is now being geared-up for its assault on the Australian Land Speed Record for its class.

Raptor is named after the Momo Raptor look-alike cockpit enhancements and the Raptor styling theme has been replicated in the shape of the gullwing doors.

Already regarded as something of a ‘Street Psycho’, Raptor is about to develop a Schizoid streak and morph into two separate monster-cars. Version One is a 600+bhp beastie based on the XR6, while (the ultimate) Version Two is envisaged as a 1200bhp mega-brute based on the XR8.

Raptor was returned to Auto-Tek HQ right after the show, and the development team immediately began to disembowel the beast in preparation for its massive ‘heart transplants’ - with simultaneous upgrade of all relevant mechanicals, body hardware and interior.

The primeval scream of the 600bhp beast will soon be unleashed on test circuits around the country as the development team shakes down the modification program.

Once the technology has been bullet-proofed on closed circuits where speed will be tested to well in excess of 300km/h, the focus will shift to suitable outback speed record venues such as Lake Gairdner for further higher-speed testing.

The full-on assault on the Australian Land Speed Record for its class will be scheduled in the final quarter of 2003.

And the ultimate aim is to target the World Land Speed Record for its class.

Meantime, Raptor will show-off its styling and performance attributes at shows and venues around the country, providing the opportunity for millions of Australians to study at first hand the amazing transformation from showroom stocker to exotica.

Roman Auto-Tek is a leading Original Equipment supplier to the motor industry and has Ford Q1 quality supplier status as well as QS9000 and ISO9002 Certifications. The company also represents and provides marketing, distribution and logistics services for Speedline road and race wheels, Recaro seating and Momo steering and road wheels - covering OEM, racing and after-market industries. Roman Auto-Tek has also established a reputation for design, development and logistics services to the Australian and International Automotive industries. The company recently won an Australian Achiever Award.

If you could buy a streeter with the "wings", and the price was resonable, I'd have a Pursuit version. :s2:

In saying that, they would need to lower the door sills before it could be got into and out of reasonably.
