I have a 2018 Ford Fusion that the battery has died in. The dealer told my wife that they must change the battery because they have to reprogram the computer after it is changed. I’ve never heard of such and I’ve changed many batteries but these newer cars I’ve got no clue about. Does the computer have to be reprogrammed after the battery is changed? Or are they just trying to get more money out of me? Thanks in advance!!!

Battery should last longer than that and if needing replaced should be under warranty and any subsequent work required by doing so , likewise , with no cost to customer . Unless any unknown factors that would invalidate warranty .
