Took my 2019 Edge SEL hoping a transmission update and fluid change could fix the sudden spike in RPMs and the jerking. Turns out I need a new valve body and torque converter. It’s only 36k miles so it’s going to be covered under powertrain warranty. Can someone that has done the torque converter replacement attest that this fix solves the problem? I’m scared they replace these 2 parts and not the entire transmission.
I got a new transmission and new torque converter, updated software on mine in November and I’m still having issues. Took it to a different ford and they said I needed another torque converter. The new one is only 4 months old!!! Solution… don’t buy ford, and class action lawsuit. This is a known problem of ford!!

Same car, same issue, same actions taken to try to correct. We were just told we need a new transmission. $10,500 and owe $20,000 on it. Who's in on a class action suit to get these things addressed by Ford? We heard many others are having the same issue. Ford needs to fix this, it's obviously and issue with this car year/model and their transmission.
Same issue with my titanium. It only takes I think 12 or 13 people to bring a class action lawsuit. I owe over 26,000 on mine. Also have an explorer that the rack and pinion steering went out had to pay 2,800 to have it fixed because my vin number wasn't in the recall but the failure is exactly what the recall was for. I've been a loyal ford owner since my first car at 16. Have gotten no help or resolution from ford.

Have the same issue. 2019 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0L AWD with 80k miles.

Transmission has been acting up like everyone else’s for the past 15-20k miles at least. I know transmission work is costly so I was scared to have it looked at - until I realized I’m still under powertrain warranty lol. I bought my car certified pre owned and still have powertrain coverage from that, fortunately. Took it to a Ford dealer and they updated the transmission (in relation to TSB 21-2389), and the tech said that it did not fix the problem. They then said the torque converter would need replaced, and since that is covered under warranty, I agreed.

At the time of writing this, they have had my car for the past 28 days. Not sure why it’s taking so long, but fortunately I was provided a loaner vehicle. I’m curious if they found more problems.

I’m thankful I’m covered under warranty, but this is totally unacceptable. A class action lawsuit should 100% be commenced.

Not to mention my purge valve which went bad at like 65k miles or my sync screen which would constantly have a black screen / turn off / get stuck on the reverse cam / bug out / etc... Seems like others have been having those issues as well.

I went to the shop and my car was still up on the rack, been almost 4 weeks. Luckily I "think" they're going to repair it because I had just had it rebuilt a couple months ago. I can't get mad at the repair shop...but Ford knows about it and that's what's got me steaming.

I have a 2019 Ford Edge SEL 2.0L EcoBoost with just over 63,300 miles on it. Recently, the car has not been driving smoothly. This is really disappointing considering the fact that I got it brand new and the powertrain warranty just expired a month ago. See below for 2 main issues:

  1. Car jerks when switching gears most of the time. Mostly noticed between 2nd & 3rd AND 3rd & 4th gears. If I am very gentle with the gas pedal, the jerk is very minor and sometimes unnoticeable.
  2. At constant speeds, the RPM spikes on its own without me hitting the gas pedal. To confirm this, I drove the car on the highway multiple times with cruise control set to 60 MPH. RPM will be slightly over 2x1000 for most of the time but periodically spikes 50-100 RPM over this constant mark.

Took the car to my local dealer and complained. After paying the $125 diagnostic fee, I was informed I have to replace the torque converter. The estimate provided was $3,300. This was all done without a test drive or anything. The car was just looked at and the estimate was provided. I asked the mechanic if paying this was going to fix the problem definitively and he didn't seem sure.

Apart from the 2 issues mentioned above, the car has no other issues. No strange noises, no lights. Nothing. Even plugged a code reader in and the car not throwing any errors (for now). The vehicle has been properly maintained with all my oil changes and tire rotations done up till this point. The only thing I don't recall doing is a transmission fluid change. At every oil change appointment, I'm told it's not needed until the car has like 100,000 miles.

Since this issue started, I have been watching a lot of videos on YouTube of people with similar issues. Some mentioned changing their transmission fluid and adding Lucas additive as what fixed this problem for them. I would like to go this route to see if it works. Would like to check my ATF fluid first before going to a shop and requesting for it to be changed. Opened the hood to check my ATF level but couldn't find the dipstick. Any help here will be greatly appreciated.
Having this SAME issue at 85000 miles!

I am having an issue as well! Power train light went on and car was jerking and making noises at 31-40 mph. Made appt to get diagnostic at 58k at the dealership. Waited 4 hrs for them to tell me they didn’t have time to do it and to make appt to get loaner. Waiting list was 1 1/2 months. Finally got in, with 61,200 miles and now ford is saying not covered under power train and offering 6200 out of 16k cost . Transmission and rear differential. Anyone have luck appealing or fighting this? My service record is super detailed about Power train indicators and other issues. In my opinion, this is proving there was an issue with the car when I was still within warranty.
Update: so Ford wouldn’t budge on covering anything more. The car didn’t go into third gear . I wound up taking it to a local shop who fixed the rear differential and the transmission for 6k…

Has anyone done a trans service? On my 6F35 I can only drain a d full 3 quarts, out of the 10 or so. So, I drain and replace the 3quarts each spring. It comes out nearly jet black but no issues in 140k.

No lipstick, so you need to measure what comes out and refill with the same, or, open the higher bolt on the case and the excess will drain out.

Fluids are not 'forever', even if the dealer says so as they just want it to make it to the warranty cutoff.

Same issue: FORD EDGE 2018 SEL with 87k miles needs a transmission replacement costing $7k (powertrain warranty is just 60k). Does anybody know how much longer I can drive it before it completely gives out?

Ford seems like some SCAM for me now - it's just 6 years old, and I still have $3000 in payments left(with total price of the car - $30k+).

p.s. I also had an engine replacement at 46k miles due to a cooler leak into the engine.

Same shit with me. 2018 Ford Edge SEL 114k miles. Shakes like an earthquake when in D or R. Sudden shifts at low rpm. The best prices so far for fixing are between 3,500 and 3,800. I saw through the system that there was a recall for the torque converter in the past, but my vehicle's history does not contain any changes or replacement requests. I asked Ford about this and they pretended not to know anything.

They issued a recall for the torque converter in Ford Edges manufactured between 07/2017 and 03/2018. Mine was manufactured in 12/2017. Could the low mileage issue be related to the fact that something went wrong when they replaced the engine?

The problem is that the DG9P-7000-YA transmission( 6-speed, 2.0L (turbocharged), FWD, without automatic engine stop and start), is quite rare and expensive. You can buy a 3.5L transmission for $700 with low mileage, whereas the DG9P-7000 would cost $1500 used with over 90k miles on it. A new one would cost more than $4k. I found a place where I can replace it for $1200 in total, but I can't find a good transmission(price/milage) for replacement now.

I'm in. Same issues. Been going on for months with no codes. I still owe 15K. This is ridiculous. Ford needs to be accountable here!

2019 Edge Titanium, 89k miles now but started below 80k. Shuddering 25-40mph, slipping, lurching when I first drive. Was quoted 4,400 for new torque converter and am still going rounds with ford. Was told my diagnosis needed to be within 30 days to get a case manager, which would cost me another $200. this is my third ford, and will be my last. If I can’t get assistance this is getting traded for a GMC. also filed a complaint with the NHTSA.

Same problem for me. 66,000 miles on my 2019 Ford Edge Titanium. It started jerking between 20-30 mph and 60-80 mph. I took it to the dealer and was told the transmission needed to be replaced. I was quoted $10,215. I took it to Aamco for another opinion. I was told the transmission was not shifting into second gear and had some other issues. They couldn't fix it because the transmission is so new. My car has been to the dealer for every oil change and recommended maintenance. There is no reason for the transmission to need to be replaced so soon. I still have 9 months of payments. The dealer suggested I call Ford to see if they had any programs to help with payment. I was told they can't do anything for me. Called the dealer back and all they offered was financing at 20.99%. The lowest option is $431.87/month with $1,200 down. Who can afford that while still having a car note? This is my second Ford Edge. My 2007 has 199,000 miles and runs better than my 2019. I only bought this one because I had such a positive experience with the first. Never had to replace anything under the hood. This will be my last Ford! I like to play games and even there I have less problem with payment. A long time ago, a friend recommended me yabby casino no deposit bonus and I still use this resource. There are only proven and reliable games and there are also various payment methods. I easily get my winnings, which I win with the help of various promo codes, of which there are quite a few.
It was very interesting to read! Now I will be more careful when choosing a car and a dealer!

I am having the same issue on my 2019 Ford Edge SEL Ecoboost. Getting the Service Engine light and a P0741 code which indicates the the torque converter is stuck. My vehicle only has 42K miles on it, but of course is 5 months past the warranty date. I was quoted $10K for a complete transmission rebuild. I just filed a complaint at with the NFTSA. Everyone experiencing this problem should do the same since the formal complaints can influence and lead to a safety recall.
