Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023-2024 Ford Transit Trail models over an issue with the steering.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the electronic power assist steering (EPAS) ground eyelet joint may experience corrosion, which can result in a loss of power steering assist.
The hazards: a loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Affected vehicles: select 2023-2024 Ford Transit Trail vehicles produced between March 15th, 2022, and March 6th, 2024.
Number of vehicles affected: 1,902
The fix: dealers will install a new EPAS ground pigtail kit, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin August 5th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S46.
