Do ALL globes work including the dash and side lights?

Make sure the earth in the boot is good, if you have to un-do it and remove the paint and re-do the bolt. Use a bit of vacaline (sp???) to prevent rust.

Still sounds like you need to replace your flasher can.

 

When you say: replace the flasher can? you are meaning the box thingy in the fuse box? there are a group of four and you are meaning the flasher one... well if thats what you mean i have replaced that and it made no difference...

Isint the flasher unit behind the handbrake?? At least it is in my XF...i think you have replaced a relay in the fuse box??

Although im not too familiar with EA's...any EA owners care to clarify where the flasher unit is located?

Also when you indicate do the green arrows in your instrument cluster flash too for each side? None of them are blown?

Does the car have a towbar? If it does try and clean the trailer plug. Not unheard of for it to earth out.

 

Have any globes been replaced recently?
are they all the same wattage?

Also make sure you dont have tail lights full of water, which can cause rapid flashing also.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm, these are ussually connected to the indicators, and if it has a faulty diode or two within the alarm unit, may cause a similar problem

 

I'm with FTE fan - assuming you have a towbar!

The Ford factory tow pack uses a small rectangular trailer plug. At each end are contacts which are normally closed by the spring loaded door on the plug.

When that door is opened (to plug trailer in) the trailer lights are then in circuit, and the lights are designed to flash at the correct rate. If the contacts aren't touching (eg due to dirt) it's as if the trailer is there, but has blown bulbs. Hence the fast flash rate. Had this happen on my XF.

Try cleaning the contacts in the door, or if this doesn't work, bend the contacts out slightly (carefully!) to make contact.

Of course if you don't have this plug - I guess this info is not of much use.......

 

I was about to say are all globes same wattage as specified, but 9psi EB beat me to it, so i would have to say i agree with him. It could be that, check them all and see if they are all the same and right wattage.....
